Classic Beef Taco Mix

500g            Beef Mince
2 tsp             Paprika
1 tsp              Cumin
1 tsp              Oregano
1 tsp              Salt
0.5 tsp          Ground Coriander
0.5 tsp          Chilli Powder
0.5 tsp          Garlic Powder
0.5 tsp          Onion Powder
0.5 tsp          Ground Black Pepper
1 tbsp            Cooking Oil
1 tbsp            Constarch, slurry


1.   Dissolve 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in 3 tablespoons of room temperature water to achieve cornstarch  
2.  Combine all of the herbs and spices thoroughly. 
3.  Over medium heat, sautee minced beef in oil until cooked through.
4.  Reduce heat to low and add spice mix.
5.  Sautee for 3-5 minutes on low heat until beef becomes dark red and fragrant.
6.  Increase heat to medium high.
7.  Add constarch slurry and continously stir for 2-3 minutes.
8.  remove from heat, cover pot and let stand 5-10 minutes.
9.  Serve in taco shells with your favourite fixings.

Chefs Tips

1. Use the same spice mix with 0.5 cups of either orange juice, pineapple juice or your favourite beer as great steak marinade perfect for fajitas.
